Blu-ray Players - DVD is History, the Future is Blue
HDMI Guy

Blu-ray players are causing much debate for anybody interested in home theater.

Some people were quick to make the switch from DVD to Blu-ray when they saw the benefits of this new technology. While others aren't so sure if it's worth the extra cost. After all, DVD is pretty good - so what's the point in spending more money on hardware and discs?

Well, if you are one of those people dragging your feet, think about these points and see if you change your mind.

1. You can still play your existing DVDs A Blu-ray player can play DVDs as well as Blu-ray discs, so you don't have to ditch your existing collection of DVDs. So just keep using your existing DVD collection and just buy Blu-ray discs when you are buying something new.

2. It's getting cheaper all the time.

While there was a format war between Blu-ray and HD DVD, the prices of the players and discs remained high. Too high. However, now that there is only one format, the prices of players and discs has fallen dramatically. So Blu-ray players and discs are much more affordable than they were even a year ago.

3. You can watch movies in full 1080p high-definition.

If you've bought yourself an HD flat screen TV in the last year or two, then you're really not getting the best from it if you don't have a Blu-ray player. Blu-ray is one of the few ways to watch full 1080p high-definition images. Full 1080p HD movies on an HD screen will look absolutely fantastic! If your local TV company is sending you HD TV shows, then these will only be in 1080i or 720p. To get full 1080p images you need Blu-ray.

4. You can hear movies in high-definition surround sound.

Most DVDs will have a 5.1 surround sound soundtrack. You will also get the same soundtrack on a Blu-ray disc, but you will also get an extra high-definition soundtrack. You should get either a Dolby TrueHD or a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on a Blu-ray disc - or maybe both. These formats are uncompressed audio that have more dynamic range and greater clarity than the compressed versions on a DVD. Just be aware, your audio playback devices may need to support these new HD audio formats for you to use them.

5. You can show off to your friends and family!

If you're still not convinced, just think about how you can make your friends and family green with envy! Believe me, if you have a large HD flat screen TV, and ideally a surround sound system too, then you will see their jaws drop when you put on a Blu-ray movie with HD surround sound. It really is fantastic.

So did I manage to convince you? I hope so, as you won't regret making the change to a Blu-ray player. You will see such a big difference in the picture and sound quality, that you will definitely wonder why you didn't make the switch before! Go to the website for more information.
